Dr. Ike Ogbaa, MD
Biopharma Strategic Advisor & Consulting
An Internal Medicine physician and biopharma executive with more than 20 years of clinical practice and biopharma industry experience — Dr. Ogbaa helps biopharma founders and life-sciences leaders turn science into strategy, and strategy into impact for patients.
From the bedside to the boardroom
Dr. Ike Ogbaa began his career in clinical practice for about four years as a hospitalist at the Texas Medical Center. That frontline patient-care experience continues to anchor his work today.
Over the past two decades he has held progressively senior medical affairs leadership roles across both global pharma and emerging biotech — spearheading drug launches and shaping medical strategy across a range of therapeutic areas. He has served as Vice President and Global Head of Medical Affairs at companies including Immunovant, Bluebird Bio, and Chinook Therapeutics (a Novartis company), with earlier leadership roles at GSK, Bayer, Sanofi, and Merck.
He champions innovation balanced with integrity — advancing therapies that benefit patients while responsibly navigating complex healthcare systems. He is a vocal advocate for health equity and for broadening clinical trial participation in underrepresented regions, including sub-Saharan Africa.
Dr. Ogbaa is the author of The Triangle of Leadership and a frequent conference speaker on medical affairs, strategy, product launches, career development, and the application of AI to enhance people, products, and performance.
